What a year!
As the end of the year approaches, members of the HFM team and their families were treated to a weekend getaway in Cervantes, Western Australia, for the second consecutive year.
It’s no secret that 2020 imposed many challenges for people, companies and countries around the world. Despite this, at HFM we are thankful for this year’s achievements, for our team members and their positive response to the sudden changes implemented due to COVID, so we took this opportunity to reflect on the positive, celebrate this year’s successes and the great news of HFM joining global leader BGIS.
The HFM Family
Getting to know team members is quite important for companies, but within HFM we believe that going a step further, providing spaces and organising activities for our team members and their families to interact, gives a great opportunity to get to know each other even better and create stronger relationships; which in return is reflected in a great workplace culture.
The management team took this opportunity to recognise the importance of family support, which this year became a lot more obvious during the lockdown period when working from home everyday was the norm.
Pinnacles Edge Resort
On Friday afternoon, team members and families arrived at Cervantes, Western Australia. All of them stayed at the Pinnacles Edge Resort. After checking in, they gathered near the giant chess board, in the resort’s pool area for the official welcome and some mingling, then it was time to get going with the first group activity!
Sunset at Pinnacles Desert
This was a great experience for everyone, the orange sky above The Pinnacles Desert was the perfect backdrop to kick off the celebrations. A brief tour was provided by HFM’s Managing Director, Ian Knox.
Pizza Night & Secret Santa
After watching the sunset, it was time to head back to Pinnacles Edge Resort, where Children were surprised by HFM’s “unique” Santa Claus who handed over gifts.
Then everyone enjoyed the delicious wood-fired pizza along with some drinks , followed by HFM’s typical Secret Santa game (which involves “stealing” other people’s gifts), this game always makes everyone laugh!
Painting Class by Sam Knox Creative
A group of participants joined the painting class offered by Sam Knox Creative.
Most of them were sceptical prior starting the class as they didn’t believe in their painting skills, but Sam did a great job explaining and guiding the team step by step to recreate The Pinnacles on canvas.
You could hear a pin drop! – The silence was a clear sign of how much everyone was enjoying the activity, focusing on their painting and applying all the techniques that Sam taught during the class.
The end-result surprised almost everyone, and those who didn’t signed up for the class regretted not doing so after seeing everyone else’s paintings.
Nadija Chokolich won the best painting prize, which was kindly donated by Pinnacles Edge Resort, (accommodation for 4 at one of their apartments for a weekend). Congrats Nadija!
Christmas Celebration
Dinner & Quiz Night
HFM’s Christmas Dinner Reception was hosted at Pinnacles Edge Resort’s function room. The buffet menu catered for all preferences.
After dinner, an incredibly fun quiz night, hosted by HFM’s Energy Consultant Darren Wills and his daughter Jamie, took place.

The management team took this opportunity to congratulate Jenni Alward (HFM’s Building Manager based in Port Hedland), for recently being awarded an FMA Indigenous Scholarship
