Labor Promises Tax Breaks for Green Buildings
The Australian Labor Party has releasedan incentive to enable buildings to reduce their energy consumption and achieve a higher NABERS rating.
The plan offers a one-off tax dedection of 50% of the cost of eligible assets or capital works.
The plan will be for projects undertaken between 1 July 2011 and 30 June 2015.
The Green Building Fund will also be extended by an additional $30 million.
The plan further endorses the NABERS rating scheme as the choice of rating tool for commercial office buildings in Australia.
